Do you know that bacteria were among the first life forms to appear on Earth, and are present in most of its habitats?
Millions of bacteria exist in humans and animals, most are in the gut, and there are many on the skin. They are harmless and many are beneficial. However, some species of bacteria are pathogenic. They can cause severe diseases, including cholera, syphilis, and anthrax, to name a few.

PHOENIX Antimicrobial TPEs are developed by adopting EPA-registered technology in our TPEs. They effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria and microbes in your finished parts. These TPEs formulations are tested in compliance with JIS Z2801:2010 and JIS Z2911-2000 standards. The results show that PHOENIX Antimicrobial TPEs can eliminate Escherichia coli & Staphylococcus aureus by more than 99.9%. They are also effective against Aspergillus niger. Phoenix TPEs will protect your products from odor, loss of aesthetic look, and mechanical properties.
How does an Antimicrobial ingredient work?
The antimicrobial feature is embedded into PHOENIX TPEs when they are manufactured. The active ingredient consistently inhibits the growth of microbes because it can penetrate the cell wall of the microbe and disrupt its life function and then kill the microbes. The performance is long-lasting and will not be affected by stretch, wear or tear. The antimicrobial ingredient is EPA and FDA-approved, making it safe for food contact. It is also registered in the Biocidal Product Regulation (BPR) and included in EFSA.
